Second seeded Australian Bernard Tomic was knocked out in the first round of the US Open Junior Championships today.
Tomic suffered the shock loss at the hands of American Devin Britton in three sets, 3-6 6-3 6-2.
The American recovered from a set down to eventually overcome Tomic with an old fashion serve and volley game at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Centre.
Tomic will now turn his focus to the boys’ doubles event, in which he will partner compatriot Matt Reid.
