Bernard goes down fighting
Bernard has gone down to Gilles Muller of Luxembourg in his second round match at the Australian Open on Thursday.
After becoming the youngest player to win a main draw match at the Australian Open on Monday, Tomic started well against Muller, taking the first set 6-3 and looking at ease in front of a capacity crowd at Rod Laver Arena.
But the vastly more experienced Muller slowly wore down the 16-year-old to take the second set 6-1 and continued on to close out the match 6-4 6-2.
Muller served down 27 aces on his way to a third round match against Juan Martin del Potro.
