Tomic reaches play-off quarterfinals
Bernard Tomic has advanced to the quarterfinals of the Australian Open Wildcard Play-off at Melbourne Park today.
In searing heat, Tomic defeated Kris Balakrishnan 6-2 6-1 in his final round-robin match to seal a spot in the final eight.
Earlier in the week, Tomic beat JP Smith in his opening match of the tournament 6-3 6-2 while on Tuesday he went down to West Australian Matt Ebden in a three set-thriller 3-6 6-1 7-5.
Tomic’s opponent in the quarterfinals will be known later today.
