Tomic to face Ferrer

Bernard Tomic will make his centre court debut in the Malaysian Open in Kuala Lumpur later today against fifth-seeded Spaniard David Ferrer.

Tomic, who is playing in his first ATP level tournament since Queen’s in June, received a wildcard into this event.

The Spaniard who is currently ranked No.11 in the world – Tomic is ranked No.218 – has had a great season, making it to the quarterfinals or better at eight ATP events. This match will be Tomic and Ferrer’s first on-court meeting.

Seventeen-year-old Tomic hasn’t faced a player in the top 20 since his five-set loss to Marin Cilic at the Australian Open in January.
