Tomic pumped for Davis Cup
Bernard Tomic is looking forward to his biggest Davis Cup test this week against Switzerland in Sydney.
The teenager has spent the week preparing for the tie at Royal Sydney Golf Club with teammates Lleyton Hewitt, Marinko Matosevic, Chris Guccione and captain Pat Rafter.
Tomic is looking forward to the potential challenge of tackling two top-20 players – Roger Federer and Stanislas Wawrinka – in one of his highest-profile ties to date.
“It’s a big opportunity, I can’t wait for it to present itself,” the 18-year-old said.
The Swiss team head in as favourites as they boast the two highest-ranked singles players in the tie, world No.3 Roger Federer and world No.19 Stanislas Wawrinka.
However, the tie is being played on grass, a surface Switzerland haven’t played on in the competition since a 1993 clash with India in Calcutta.
