Bernard holds off Swedish wildcard
STOCKHOLM, PA/AP – Australia’s Bernard Tomic has spent nearly two hours on court to record his first main-draw win since the US Open in reaching the second round of the Stockholm Open.
Tomic did not have things all his own way against Swedish wildcard Patrik Rosenholm but battled to a 7-6(1) 5-7 6-4 victory.
Tomic next meets third seed Kevin Anderson, who received a bye into the second round.
The Australian owns a winning 2-1 head-to-head record over the South African; their most recent meeting came in the final of the 2013 Apia International Sydney, which Tomic won.
