Bernard bounced in Miami

Bernard Tomic found the going tough on Thursday at Miami’s Sony Open in his comeback to tennis following two months on the sidelines.

The Australian was trounced by Jarkko Nieminen at the Sony Open in Miami, falling 6-0 6-1.

It was the Queenslander’s first competitive outing following an injury-induced withdrawal against Nadal in the first round of the Australian Open, and subsequent hip surgery.

Tomic managed to win only 13 points as the Finn steamrolled through to a second round encounter against 22nd seed Alexandr Dolgopolov.

“This was the first match back after the operation. It’s all part of the rehabilitation process,” Tomic said.

“I’m not disappointed. I just have to keep working to improve my game.”

I hope your recovery goes well and that you will be able to start enjoying the game again like before when you were a junior. Maybe sport has just become too commercialised. I think that if sport was amateur then you would have more fun with it. I imagine only that maybe you have a lot of pressure to perform in Australia, and your sponsors want you to put in good results.
